Baby showers are traditionally thrown by a close female friend of the expecting mother. Baby showers are hosted to congratulate the expectant mother and to shower her and the baby-to-be with gifts and well wishes. Often times, baby showers are themed. Invitations, party favors and nametags carry the same look and feel.
Popular themes include nursery rhymes, baby animals, and more. Hostesses often tie the baby shower theme to the new mother’s nursery theme, so guests can easily contribute to the décor. Showers usually last two to three hours. During this time, guests are often invited to participate in games. About three games are right for this time span, allowing time for guests to socialize, present gifts, eat appetizers and enjoy themselves.
